Project Abstract

Severn School has a history of a tightly knit, supportive community, in large part due to its highly impactful and devoted faculty members. I would like to honor and help preserve that aspect of the school’s history in the form of a portrait gallery, paying deserved tribute to some of those faculty. I will survey alumni and request nominations of previous and retired faculty members who had a significant, positive influence on their experience at Severn and life after. My goal is to identify five faculty members from among these nominees, and arrange a meeting with each chosen faculty to discuss with them their personal experience at the school and with their students. I will then paint their portraits and install the completed pieces along with brief biographies of each, and quotes from them and their nominators.
